Brief History of the Institution About JSS Mahavidyapeetha: J.S.S.Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore is well known for promoting the cause of education in the Southern part of Karnataka for over four decades.Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Mahavidyapeetha is the central body that runs over 350 educational institutions. It was established in the year 1954 by the foresight and vision of his Holiness Jagadguru Late Sri Sri Sri Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd pontiff of Suttur Mutt. The Vidyapeetha runs institution from the crèche level to Research Institutions, training doctoral scholars. The present pontiff, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Deshikendra Mahaswamiji is the current President of the J.S.S.Mahavidyapeetha. Under his able direction and blessings many high schools, several colleges, Ayurvedic College, Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics, Industrial training institutes, college of Physiotherapy, institute of speech & Hearing , College & Schools of Nursing are functioning efficiently. The present Pontiff’s illustrious predecessors have been the driving force in formulating the policies and programmes, in terms of broadening the vision of the J.S.S.Mahavidyapeetha. This has been endorsed by many educationists as more than a university. Several thousands of students, teachers and employees derive benefit from these institutions. JSS Hospital The present JSS Hospital in Ramanuja Road has a long history. In order to serve the needy and poor sections of the society and to bring quality medical service within the reach of the poor, His Holiness Dr.Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji started J.S.S. Health Centre as early as 1963 on a small scale. Thus the seed of the present Hospital was planted. At present hospital is having 1200 beds with 35 specialties and super specialties started under the aegis of J.S.S. Medical Service Trust. It is now serving as a teaching hospital to the J.S.S. Medical College. J.S.S. Hospital is of the pioneer hospital in Mysore. A notable feature of this hospital is that it caters to the needs of the patients of rural parts of the districts viz., Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Mandya, Coorg, and Hassan in Karnataka and Nilgiries in Tamil Nadu. It treats on average, 800 patients in outpatient department and facilities provided for 1200 in-patients. Several health activities are organized in rural areas to create health awareness. Apart from extending the clinical facilities to the J.S.S. Medical College, it trains students of J.S.S. Nursing College, Nursing School and JSS College of Physiotherapy, JSS College of Speech & Hearing also. All the departments have well experienced staff members backed by sophisticated equipment’s with sufficient infra structural facilities. Hospital is attached to J.S.S. Medical College, Mysore for providing Clinical Facilities to the students of J.S.S.Medical College. J.S.S.Medical College, established by J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha in the year 1984 – 85 is recognized by the Medical Council of India & is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka, Bangalore. The college is also recognized by General Medical Council, U.K. Sri Lanka Medical Council and W.H.O Royal college of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, United Kingdom has recognized for training of students for the award for M.R.C.O.G postgraduate courses in various faculties. J.S.S Hospital is also attached to the following allied departments for academic exposures
Admission Details The first visit of the any patient to the hospital is facilitated with one time Registration as Out-Patient which is valid for a period of 365 days. During this period the patient is free to visit any of the attached consulting department free of cost. In-Patient facilities are available at very nominal charges with the facility of cross consultations with allied departments of the hospital. The hospital is facilitated with 1100 beds including General, Semi Special, Special, VIP and Isolation wards with multi-facet medical facilities for patients Care. Intensive Care Units: : Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU), Dialysis and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) & Causality & Emergency departments are all well equipped with the most modern and advanced equipments for the best care and cure of the patients. Operation Theatre Complex:: JSS is equipped with the 14 Operating tables in the same premises with the latest and sophisticate equipments and with the eminent surgeons and their team conducting the surgeries with best of results. We have conducted fully successful 15097 surgeries in just one financial year 2007 (both Major & Minor). Multi specialty surgeries : Renal Transplant and Corneal Transplant are conducted in the Hospital. JSS Hospital is the first Hospital to conduct Renal Transplantation outside Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. Diagnostic Departments : JSS Hospital is equipped with the state of the art Diagnostic equipments with the most skilled staff in each respective department and has been providing the best results viz. Departments of Microbiology, Pathology, Histopathology, Biochemistry, Blood Bank with the facility of preparation of Blood components. The departments are functioning round the clock for the welfare of the patients. Higher Specialty Diagnostic Medical Imaging equipments like CT scan, MRI are also available round the clock at the Hospital premises.
